The Root of the Righteous
But the root of the righteous cannot be moved. (Prov. 12:3)
I love to write about righteousness! More than any other revelation I have received over the years, the revelation of righteousness has had the greatest impact on my life. I have been walking in a guilt free relationship with God for so long now, that I often forget how many Christians still struggle in this area.
I am not suggesting I have never made mistakes. I have. If I could do some parts of my life over again, I would. Nevertheless, righteousness has sustained me and empowered me to push through the self-doubt and condemnation and emerge equipped to carry on with my God given purpose and destiny.
As Solomon declared, the root of the righteous cannot be moved. If righteousness is a root, it came from a seed. That seed is the incorruptible Word of God by which we are born again. It is the very nature of God. It is the expression of His love, acceptance and blessing. Paul declares in Romans 5:17, that righteousness is a gift.
When we see Christians tossed to and fro in life, surrounded by failure, fear and lack, it is nothing more than a symptom of not understanding righteousness. Righteousness is not about our behavior, though our behavior will be transformed the more we get a revelation of righteousness. It is not about never making a mistake. It is about the grace to stand in the presence of God without fear or guilt regardless of our need or weakness. It is a root that cannot be moved!
Those who live by their emotions and feelings are easily moved. Every feeling, circumstance and negative thought jeopardizes their peace and joy. The righteous don’t have to live on that shallow level of life. Righteousness is the divine anchor that establishes us on the ‘rock’ of Jesus. It is freedom from the stress of having to please God and not know if you have measured up. You HAVE measured up because Jesus was measured in your place! Rest in His righteousness and allow that root to grow into a fruitful life.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD. (Isa. 54:17)
