2ND YEAR STUDENTS MISSION TRIP TO LESOTHO
This mission trip was very kindly hosted by MC Coetzee, the South African Director – World outreach International, and his newly appointed assistant, Ivan Venter.
A very big thank you to them both.
Each day consisted of either a village or school visit in the morning till approximately 13:00 – 14:00. Every afternoon except for Sundays we would have a DE class with the Lesotho Correspondence students who are making use of the Charis Bible College curriculum, from 15:00 till anytime up to 18:00.
Each school visit would be accompanied by MC, Ivan and relevant pastors of the area, besides pastor Phuka and Maneo who would interpret for us.
It was at the schools where he CBC students did their skits, ministering to the children, after which games would be played using the soccer balls which we took and donated to the schools. The skits were a great success, the school children were ministered to about Jesus, His love for them and the Holy Spirit.
Popular ball games would then be played with the children, which were enjoyed with screams of laughter coming from them.
I think the highlight of the village visits, besides the healings that took place, is witnessing quite a few of the people renouncing their ancestral worship, and accepting Jesus as their only Lord and Saviour.
Ministering to them that they cannot add Jesus to what they previously did, was a reality. This came about by the Pastors testimony of how they have renounced the ancestors, reinforced by Nosuko’s testimony of having done the same was very powerful, not only that but what Jesus had done for them what the ancestors had failed to do for them.
We know what the Word says about a prophet in his own home town, so CBC students being there really does impact the community!
This was very encouraging for the pastors, as they have been ministering to some of these people for a very long time. We learnt from Pastor Maneo, the main scripture she uses is Eccl 8:5-6. “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.” This obviously proves to them with the Gospel, that the ancestors they think are there, really are not.
The students were backed at all times by MC and Ivan who have a wonderful gift of ministering with illustrations that are easily understood by the Lesotho people, and so everyone was learning “hands on” and a wonderful time was had by all.
MC and Ivan are doing a great work on their regular visits encouraging and teaching them in the word of truth.
With this foundation in place, I believe we will see much fruit come forth. This Word of God cannot be stopped! Hallelujah!
